Editorial policy, fact-checking and corrections

This page explains where our information comes from, how we check it, and what we do when we get something wrong.

Sources we use

Facts about Okinus come from Okinus’s own published pages and agreements, such as its consumer FAQs, service agreement and terms. Facts about loans and consumer protection come from federal and state agencies, including the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, the Federal Trade Commission and the National Credit Union Administration. We use consumer reviews only to describe common complaints, never as proof of how a product works.

How facts are checked

  • Every factual statement about Okinus links to the page it comes from.
  • Each source shows the date we last opened it and confirmed the claim.
  • When retailer pages or reviews disagree with Okinus’s documents, we follow Okinus’s documents and say when terms vary by agreement.
  • We don’t publish figures we can’t verify, such as example lease prices, approval rates or fees that Okinus doesn’t publish.
  • We re-check Okinus facts at least every three months and whenever a reader reports a change.

Methodology for loan information

Loan descriptions explain how each product type generally works and what to compare. They are not offers, rankings or rate quotes. Actual rates, fees, amounts and eligibility are set by each lender and by state law.

Editorial independence

Commercial relationships don’t change what we say about Okinus or about any loan type. Writers don’t see which lenders pay us when describing products, and we don’t accept payment to change or remove information.

Corrections

If you find an error, email [email protected] with the page and the correction, and a source if you have one. We review reports within five business days. Corrections that change a fact are noted at the bottom of the affected page with the date of the change.
