Loss Damage Waiver (LDW)
Normally, if a leased item is stolen or destroyed, you still owe the remaining payments. The LDW changes that for covered events.
What it does
After a covered claim is processed, your future payments stop.
What it doesn’t
Past-due payments, NSF fees and late fees still apply.
Timing
You must choose it when you sign. It can’t be added later, but it can be cancelled at any time.
Making a claim
File online, by email or by mail with your name, account number and documents such as photos or a police report.

Okinus Care Plus
Care Plus is a membership program. Its protection benefits, as Okinus describes them:
| Benefit | What Okinus says it does |
|---|---|
| Involuntary unemployment | Waives lease payments up to $300 a month per agreement, until $1,000 has been waived, you return to work, or four months pass |
| Accident and sickness | May waive lease payments up to $1,000 across all agreements, or for four consecutive months, whichever comes first |
| Courtesy waiver | Waives the account balance after the death of an eligible member listed on the agreement |
Members also get discount services, including telemedicine, prescription and vision savings, and discounts on dining, travel and shopping.

Do you need them?
Both are optional, and both add to what you pay. They can make sense in some situations:
The LDW may be worth it if…
- The item could be stolen or damaged where you live or use it.
- Your renters or homeowners insurance wouldn’t cover leased property.
- You couldn’t afford to keep paying for an item you no longer have.
Care Plus may be worth it if…
- Your income could stop suddenly and you have no savings cushion.
- You’d actually use the telemedicine or discount services.
- The waiver limits ($300 a month, $1,000 total) cover a meaningful share of your payments.
Ask to see your payment with and without each add-on before you sign, and include them when you compare the total cost of the lease.
Common questions

No. Okinus says the LDW can’t be added after the initial contract is signed, though you can cancel it at any time.
